HTC plans to continue flooding the smartphone market with another One device in the near future

htc_logo_one_a9_rocks_TAThe HTC One A9 is barely getting shipped to customers that have pre-ordered, and we’re already hearing some new rumors about what the company is cooking up next. HTC is really, really bad at spacing out device launches, or even launching devices that make sense, and this new phone isn’t bucking that trend at all.

There are two rumored models for this upcoming device, one of which is the flagship-sounding HTC One X9. The other is a less exciting HTC One E56. Regardless of what the device ends up being called, it’ll use a full HD 5.5-inch display with a MediaTek CPU and 2 GB of RAM. There’s a 3,000 mAh battery on the spec list and a 13 megapixel camera with a front-facing UltraPixel camera. That’s not a better phone than the HTC One A9 (or the One M9, while we’re at it) and it muddies up HTC’s already confusing lineup of devices. Did we really need another HTC One device that doesn’t bring anything new to the table?

One step forward, two steps back. Come on, HTC.
