Micromax Yu delays Yutopia launch until December 17 due to legal issues

Originally slated to be announced on December 7th, the Cyanogen OS-powered Yu Yutopia will now be unveiled on December 17th instead. This is partly due to the consolidation of two mobile device launches, and partly due to Yu’s ongoing legal problems with Ericsson over patent infringement and non-payment of royalties.

The delay was announced by Yu’s chief innovator, Rahul Sharma, who promised that ‘the most powerful phone now launches on December 17‘. The secondary mobile device set to be unveiled alongside the Yutopia is an unknown quantity at present, whether it’s a low or mid-end phone is anyone’s guess.

The Micromax owned company has hyped the Yutopia announcement in recent times, commenting on its rivals handsets that feature non-premium building materials and only 3GB of RAM, while the Yutopia boasts 4GB of RAM, a Snapdragon 810 processor, a 5.2-inch Quad HD display, as well as a 8MP camera and metal build materials.
